STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The direction of John F. Kennedy High School is to maximize the academic achievement and character development of each and every student. The John F. Kennedy staff recognizes that students have individual differences, interests, and abilities and therefore expect all students to strive to fulfill their personal potential. John F. Kennedy High School sets high expectations and provides programs that encourage independent and creative responses and the skills necessary to meet the challenges of an ever-changing technological society. John F. Kennedy High School seeks to instill in students the pleasure of learning and importance of self respect and respect for others, while maintaining personal responsibility. More than ever before, societal factors impact our students. For this reason the successful accomplishment of our goal requires the active participation of students, faculty, parents, Board of Education, business leaders, and the overall community.
The mission of the Waterbury School System is to establish itself as the leader in Connnecticut for urban education reform in partnership with the State Department of Education and the entire Waterbury community. The school system will provide opportunities for all students to maximize their skills and talents in an atmosphere where teaching and learning flourish under the never-wavering belief that all students can be exemplary students, while becoming respectful, responsible, productive citizens vital to our community.
